One core value of the Arete Center for Excellence is community. The work we do in the Arete Experience is in the context of community. We practice reflection, we create space for people to experience themselves deeply, and have that be seen and honored by others. Community is the container that allows us to dive deeply into uncharted territory, and stay safe and held.
Personally, I want to see more of that out in the world. I want there to be more depth and relatedness in the communites people are already a part of, like neighborhoods, offices, and collectives. I want this kind of community to spring up and spread. I believe it offers something deeply important to people. Sites like Tribe.net point to how important connection and relatedness is to people.
From the point of view of the Arete Center, I would love to see us leading workshops for existing communities. Imagine bringing a team at work together and having everyone relating deeply as human beings, rather than as just coworkers. Imagine being deeply seen, loved, and supported by the person who lives across the street from you, rather than just someone you wave to twice a month.
What would you like to see in the communities you're in? How does that sound to you? What do you want to create?
